Hi,
The vector potential for elctrodynamics, [itex]A_{\mu}[/itex], can be decomposed
[tex]
A_{\mu}\in\mathbf{0}\oplus\mathbf{1}
[/tex]
but the [itex]\mathbf{0}[/itex] part we ignore. My question is: do we ignore the scalar part because of experiment, or is it ignored for mathematical reasons I am naive about?
Thanks,
