Although Ethyl chloride has more alpha hydrogens, cation formed by Benzyl chloride would show resonance and therefore show higher stability and faster rate, shouldn't that be more reactive?

Yes, it should be more reactive than Ethyl chloride, due to its higher stability and faster rate. The presence of resonance in the cation formed by Benzyl chloride helps to stabilize the charge, resulting in a faster reaction rate.
