In summary, having the ability to delete one's own threads is a useful feature that allows users to have more control over their content. It allows for the removal of outdated or irrelevant posts, as well as the ability to correct any mistakes or errors made. This feature also promotes a sense of privacy and security for users, as they can delete their own personal information if desired. However, it is important to note that this feature should be used responsibly and not abused, as it can disrupt the flow of discussions and conversations on online platforms.

maybe this option should be made available (if it is, then how do I do it?)

It isn't available for a reason. Discussions are for public consumption. It would therefore be disruptive for members to delete their own threads -- particularly since it would mean deleting other peoples' posts!
