What is Ti-84: Definition and 65 Discussions

The TI-84 Plus is a graphing calculator made by Texas Instruments which was released in early 2004. There is no original TI-84, only the TI-84 Plus, the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition models, and the TI-84 Plus CE. The TI-84 Plus is an enhanced version of the TI-83 Plus. The key-by-key correspondence is relatively the same, but the 84 features some improved hardware. The archive (ROM) is about 3 times as large, and CPU about 2.5 times as fast (over the TI-83 and TI-83 Plus). A USB port and built-in clock functionality were also added. The USB port on the TI-84 Plus series is USB On-The-Go compliant, similar to the next generation TI-Nspire calculator, which supports connecting to USB based data collection devices and probes, and supports device to device transfers over USB rather than over the serial link port.

Graphing a Fourier Series on a TI-84 Plus not working so well

Hi! I was wondering how you would graph a Fourier series for a square wave that periodic. My textbook gave something proper that I would expect (just google 'Square Wave Fourier Series Expansion') while my TI - 84 gave a image like the one somewhere in this thread. It would be nice if anybody...

Binomial probability with TI-84 binomcdf function

Homework Statement If a fair die is tossed 7 times what is the probability of at least two 4s? Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution To solve this I used my TI-84's binomcdf function. I just want to see it I'm doing it correctly. p(2<=x<=7) = 1 - p(0<=x<=1) = 1 -...

How to find polynomial roots on a TI-83 or TI-84 Plus without PolySmlt?

I'd like to know how to find the root of a polynomial on my TI-84 Plus without this "Polynomial Root Finder and Simultaneous Equation Solver" app. The reason is that the app's not in my calculator and I can't transfer the app to my calculator. I keep getting an "Access Denied" error message...

    Ti-84 strange derrivative problem

Hey there, I'm using a Ti-84 calculator to calculate derrivatives. It goes like this: Y1={the actual function} Y2=nDeriv(Y1,X,X) This seems to work, except for functions with cos(x), sin(x),.. Example: Y1=X² Y2=nDeriv(Y1,X,X) Y3=2X As Y3 represents the actual derrivative of Y1, Y2 and Y3 are...

    TI-84 Plus Weird Graphing Problem

Hello all, I have been having a really strange problem lately on my TI-84. Whenever I graph anything, there is always another graph which appears as a stretched parabola that spans the first and fourth quadrant. It is annoying because I cannot view certain parts of the graph I want to. Anyone...

Hypothesis test for normality on the TI-84?

I'm trying to run a hypothesis test to see if a data set follows a normal distribution. I don't want to look at a plot. Is there any way? I tried to build a program that uses the built-in normal distribution functions to calculate how far the points on a normality plot would fall from forming...

Calculator Derivative Error at 11: What's Causing the Drastic Difference?

Hi everyone, I've discovered quite a strange function in my textbook. I compared the calculator's calculated derivatives (Math->nDriv) with my calculus derivative and found that the two are almost 2000 units off! Up until now I've been trying to figure out the problem, but to no avail, I cannot...

Why is my TI-84 giving different results for complex number calculations?

Hi, I am having some difficulty understanding what is going on with the TI-84 complex number calculation in switching between rectangular and polar coordinates, hopefully someone can clarify this for me. For example, take the term 6<30 (6 angle 30). When I calculate this by hand going from...

Can I Use My TI-84 for Nodal Analysis with Rectangle and Polar Form?

Hi, I was wondering if it's possible to solve nodal analysis problems that include rectangle and polar form using the TI-84. It just gives me an error when I put in "i" as in imaginary when trying to put up my matrix. I've read it's possible to do with the TI-89, but I'd really rather not...
