Air absorbing moisture by blowing across pond

Thanks. So if it is in a confined environment, it would be a different case? If I were to have a water surface of 1 msq (1m x 1m), the wind would travel through this body of water at a speed of 20m/s in a tunnel of a height of 0.1m (hence the volume of air in the tunnel across the body of...

Air absorbing moisture by blowing across pond

Hi, Does anyone know how I can find out how much water the air can pick up by blowing across a pond? If the wind speed is 20m/s and the air has is 15 degree Celsius at the relative humidity level of 70% (absolute humidity of 9 g/m cube). How can I find out how long it would take to bring...

Relationship between Flow Rate and Distance of Water Droplet Travel in Air

Hi, I'm designing a system that spray water into air. I'm wondering how I should go finding out the relationship between the flow rate and distance of travel of the water droplet in air. If I am spraying the water going the same direction as the wind, how much would the velocity of the...

Relationship between dose rate and amount of radioactive particles

Hi, This might be a silly question but I've been struggling to find this out. What is the relationship between dose rate and the amount of Cs-137 in an area? if I know the exposure dose of the area is 5mSv, how can I work out how much Cs-137 is in this area? Thanks

Max. concentration of radioactive particles in water

Thanks nikkkom, I've completely missed out that its the salt dissolving in water rather than the isotope itself.

Max. concentration of radioactive particles in water

but wouldn't there be a standard max. concentration at which point no more Cs or Sr can dissolve in water? Is this not some data I can find rather to calculate if I don't have to opportunity for an experiment?

Max. concentration of radioactive particles in water

Hi, does anyone know how I can find out the max. concentration of Cs-137 and Sr-90 in water?

    Capturing radioactive particles in air

it is going to sound strange what I am trying to do, but bear in mind its a imaginative student project. My site is in chernobyl and I am designing a lab surrounding the red forest, trying to capture the state of ruin of the forest. Hence I would aim to capture whatever radioactivity that is...

    Capturing radioactive particles in air

Thanks Astronuc. Sorry for my lack of knowledge here, so you mean to try to absorb Br and I before they decay into Sr and Cs? What if it is already at the stage of Cs and Sr? Would I be able to some how capture them as they release into the air? is there other option besides filtering the air?

    Capturing radioactive particles in air

no, I'm actually an architecture student, I'm just researching for my building design, I'm trying to capture Caesium-137 and Strontium-90.

    Capturing radioactive particles in air

Thanks Drakkith, that's a very good point. I don't think I have a clear picture of how radioactive gasses behave, do you have any suggestion where I can find out more?

    Capturing radioactive particles in air

yes, exactly. it would normally be possible to capture it using moisture in the air? but I wonder what if the temperature is really low can moisture can't be form? there must be other way to capture the radioactive particles... so it would be exactly opposite for the beta emitters?

Chernobyl Chernobyl Reactors 1-3: Fuel Removal After 2000 Shutdown

as we are talking about the radioactivity, I wonder if it would differ at various height? would there be any data on how it vary as it goes higher into the atmosphere?

Chernobyl Chernobyl Reactors 1-3: Fuel Removal After 2000 Shutdown

yes I would guess that's mutated. Didn't some pine needles grew up too 4.5cm. Amazing pictures! (and thanks kurt for the searching. you have any more interesting picture?)

    Capturing radioactive particles in air

did you mean "HEPA filters and Bubble air through some water" ? I am trying to work out how to prevent the radioactive particle from traveling through the air so I'm really looking for some method that can attract the radioactive particles and capture them in air, like how Zeolite would...
