Yeah I missed out that part. Got it anyway. Thanks a lot.

I have edited my posts. Sorry about the brief post I thought it would be unnecessary to post trivial facts.

Calculating Separation of Cars in a Convoy Moving at Max Speed

Homework Statement In a convoy on a long straight level road, 50 identical cars are at rest in a queue at equal separation ## 10 m ## from each other. Engine of a car can provide a constant acceleration of ##2 m/s^2##. And brakes can provide a maximum deceleration of ##4m/s^2##. When an order...

How Does a Spring Impact the Angular Frequency of a Pendulum?

Homework Statement A pendulum of mass ##m## and length ##L## is connected to a spring as shown in figure. If the bob is displaced slightly from its mean position and released, it performs simple harmonic motion. What is the angular frequency of the bob? Homework Equations Angular frequency for...

    Rotational Mechanics question with spring

I see that flaw. Thanks a lot for pointing it out. I found a better and neater solution. The decrease in gravitational potential energy is equal to the increase in spring potential energy and hence we have $$mgx\sin\theta = \frac{1}{2}kx^2$$ Rearranging yields the answer. I hope this is correct :)

    Rotational Mechanics question with spring

I'm sorry for being unclear. I meant the position where the spring is unstretched.

    Rotational Mechanics question with spring

Homework Statement A uniform cylinder of mass ##M## and radius ##R## is released from rest on a rough inclined surface of inclined surface of inclination ##\theta## with the horizontal as shown in the figure. As the cylinder rolls down the inclined surface, what is the maximum elongation in...

    Studying Electrodynamics and Classical Mechanics?

    It requires Halliday/Resnick level electrodynamics.

    Studying Electrodynamics and Classical Mechanics?

Unfortunately, that is the problem. The exam I'm taking, which is due this November is intended for high school juniors, but I don't have any EM in my course this year. I'm having to learn it completely by myself.

    Studying Electrodynamics and Classical Mechanics?

I have scored well in the practice tests for the mechanics exams and am doing fine at the moment. I started learning about div, gradient and curl when this question popped in my mind. I am willing to work hard to become a better physicist :)

    Studying Electrodynamics and Classical Mechanics?

I am preparing for an exam which requires me to solve problems in electrodynamics and electrostatics problems along with classical mechanics and geometrical optics problems. The concern is that I do not have electrodynamics in my course in school so I have to study it completely on my own. I...

Studying What do I need before starting to learn electrodynamics?

Unfortunately no, I haven't learned enough vector calc yet. Will start soon. Can you please name some nice resources? Thank you.

Studying What do I need before starting to learn electrodynamics?

I am a high school sophomore and I want to take part in Physics Olympiads which is exactly why I want to learn electrodynamics. I have ordered 'An Introduction to Electrodynamics' by D.J. Griffiths. I am halfway through MIT OCW mechanics course and I know Calculus equivalent to standard Calculus...
