Finding Values for a Frustum Net to Calculating x, y, t, and H

Ah yes that makes sense^ Thanks very much for the help. The page I linked to confused me saying 'sqrt ' before the equations. I get it now. Much appreciated.

Finding Values for a Frustum Net to Calculating x, y, t, and H

    O.k I went ahead and cheated and used an online calculator to solve the Pythagorean problem. So.. H= 83.15046602394962 I then did this.. x = r H / (R - r) x = 35 x 83.15 / (40-35) x = 2910.25 / 5 x = 582.05 y = r H / (R - r) + H y = 35 x 83.15 / (40 - 35) + 83.15 y = 2910.25 / 5 + 83.15 y...

Finding Values for a Frustum Net to Calculating x, y, t, and H

No I'm just terrible at this stuff. I did read the solutions given on that page and went through their working example but I still don't understand it. Here is what I do to solve the Pythagorean Theorem: H² = h² + (R-r)² H² = 83x83 + 5x5 H² = 6889 + 25 H² = 6914 H = 1 (6914 / 6914) I...

Finding Values for a Frustum Net to Calculating x, y, t, and H

I need to make a net for a frustum. The following web page explains how to do it... http://www.analyzemath.com/Geometry/conical_frustum.html I have tried but am unable to do this complicated, advanced (o.k basic) math. In the following figure I have the values R,r and h. R = 40 r = 35 h =...

Is Eden Chronicles: Time to Wake Up the Start of a New Sci-Fi Epic?

Yes. I didn't make that clear, sorry. P.S note the OP is now on the third draft of his excerpt. Where else can you find like-minded people who are dedicated enough to hack away at multiple drafts of the same piece, always seeking improvement in a friendly and encouraging environment...

Is Eden Chronicles: Time to Wake Up the Start of a New Sci-Fi Epic?

Ok i understand. There definitely can be a culture of back patting in some arenas. This is not the case with above site. It's not simply 'well done Bill!', 'nice one Bob!'. Which is indeed worthless (apart from perhaps self esteem). I would call that more 'show and tell'. Note that this was...

Which bit sounded like back patting to you Evo? Crits are a common way to develop skill within the arts. http://www.artistsnetwork.com/artists-network-critiques

Is Eden Chronicles: Time to Wake Up the Start of a New Sci-Fi Epic?

Hi :) PF is a great place to get advice for the scientific considerations within your story. But if you desire advice on writing science fiction in general... may i recommend the 'Aspiring Writers' section of these forums: http://www.sffchronicles.co.uk/forum/ Lots of people will be willing to...

What are the top sci-fi shows for space adventure lovers?

Dr. Who > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torchwood" Torchwood is a Dr.Who Spin off in the UK aimed at an older audience. I've only seen a couple of episodes from the forth series and they were quite good. Will probably watch them all. Apparently The Doctor appears in a couple of episodes too.

Infrared Remote Control Watch Used to Unlock Your Car?

Yeah it was quite a while ago when we did it. I don't really know, but i imagine radio is more secure as you can encrypt or modulate the signal (or something like that ). Don't if that's possible with infrared. I wouldn't be surprised if all modern systems use radio.

How to Translate 2D CAD Drawings into 3D Models?

Keep in mind whether the 2D projection your reading is in the 1st or 3rd angle - essentially how the plans and elevations have been set on the page. Being consious of this may help you re-build the 3D shape. 1st = http://www.technologystudent.com/designpro/ortho1.htm 3rd =...

Infrared Remote Control Watch Used to Unlock Your Car?

Hello. I used to have one of these and can confirm it did work on my friends car about 10-15 years ago. Using the learn function we successfully broke into my friends car one morning at collage. I can't remember the type of car he had, and other cars (which used infrared) that we tried...

    Movies for hardcore sci-fi geeks

I've seen Kyle XY and found it quite charming. Had a sort of wholesome feel to it. I've only seen the first series though. And I just watched the first story from Masters of Science Fiction. It was surprisingly good. I see your point about Hawkins. He does say something at the start and end...
