Can i charge a ping pong ball with a negative charge by putting the ground wire in one through a small hole in it?or only by rubbing it with fur? or both? If both, I wonder which is best?

If I spray paint a stainless steel gazing ball, will it still give a spark? Does the negative charge get stronger if the aluminum sphere is larger? or does that matter?

Can I take a rubber/plastic/teflon ball that is hollow, and charge it negative? If I touch it would it zap me?does the metal object have to be grounded? or just attatched to the opposite brush? the one at the bottom?

I guess what I'm talking about. Can you make a Van Der Graaff that works in the opposite? One that charges a plastic ball instead of aluminum or steel? but does it already do that? The wand? I'm pretty much incompetent when it comes to this.

The aluminum sphere on it is generating a positive charge and the wand a negative. If I put a ball on the wand, will it charge the same way the big one does? Just opposite charge? anyone know about this thing?

Would it be wrong to say. Here is a machine that will zap your senses with energy, just as the sun use to zap your eyes when you could see? Kind of poetic I guess, but is it unscientific? Can anyone do better? I don't know how to articulate it correctly in regards to scientific definitions...

I have a Van der Graaff machine here. When I touch it with my finger I get zapped by a big blue spark. Does this spark of light have any relationship or commonality with the light I see all around me from the sun? If not, can someone please try to convince me that it does...

With just that small amount of friction, the ball rolls slowly down the hill. If the ball is made out of lead, and the hill is teflon, will that small amount of friction cause static electricity? and which one would be positive and negative? whats the best material for the ball and hill...

No there isn't, so far. I just read a book called Beyond Belief by A. K Dewdney. The speed of light is one of the 8 unreasonable things speaks of.

But I don't know what is the best material to use for a ball and flat surface. I was thinking glass ball and typhlon tape at one point, but I have no idea. Can a rolling ball, roll over a surface and get a charge? with the very low friction? any insight on this, please help.. :smile:
