AAS of mercury in prescence of cobalt

Just wondering how to analyse mercury in the presence of cobalt by atomic absorption analysis given that both elements emit and absorb radiation at 235.65nm. I know that mercury isj examined using cold vapour atomic absorbtion analysis... but knowing this still doesn't help? Any hints would...

What is the Process of Heating a Hydrocarbon in the Presence of Silicates?

[b]1. I have a relatively simple question, but I can't think of the answer. A high bp hydrocarbon (X) is obtained by the fractional distillation of crude oil. (X) is then heated in the presence of silicate materials. only 3 new hydrocarbons were from this proces. All I want to know is what...

Calculating Calorimeter Heat Capacity for Naphthalene Combustion

Yeah I just tried to use that and still got it wrong its so frustrating! I will go and see my lecturer now and hopefully he can help. Can u see anything wrong with my process?

Acetylation- acetic acid or acetic anhydride

I used 4ml of acetic acid and 6ml of acetic anhydride. I don't know how knowing how much I put in shows which is the acetylating species?

The molar heat of combustion for phenol

You burn 103.4 mg of phenol in a calorimeter of heat capacity 1,483 J K-1 and the temperature rises by 1.83 oC. Determine the molar heat of combustion for phenol in kJ mol-1. The molar mass of phenol is 94.12 g mol-1 Ccal=deltaH/ deltaT This is what I did. n=.1034/94.12 =1.09859E-3mol...

Calculating Calorimeter Heat Capacity for Naphthalene Combustion

You burn 136.8 mg of naphthalene in a calorimeter and the temperature of the calorimeter rises by 3.29 oC. Determine the calorimeter heat capacity in J K-1. The molar mass of naphthalene is 128.18 g mol-1 This is a question from a quiz I have to do. this is wat I did. Ccal=delta H/delta...

Acetylation- acetic acid or acetic anhydride

I did an experiment in one of the labs and I have a question I need to figure out. The experiment was the porduction of p-acetylaminotoluene, from p-toluidine. My question is we used acetic acid and acetic anhydride, but which is the acetyalting species. I thought of looking at the...

    Addition of alkali before extraction

This is just a general question that I hope someone can answer. Why do we add alkali before extraction rather than afterwards? This is in the experiment I recently did, which was the preparation of p-Toluidine? This was my main thought... that it helps to saturate the solution so that when...

Thats cool anyhow I know I did... checked it using your way! Thanks for your time!

Find the primitives of the functions secx tanx

yeah okay wat I also did was letting u=x^7, du=7x^6 which is du/7=x^6 Then I got int 1/7(lnu^1/7)du Then I used log laws and so I then had 1/49 int (lnu)(du) I ended up gettin the answer (x^7lnx)/7 - (x^7)/49 + C Is this rite?
