Cosmos w/ Carl Sagan: Mind-Bending Experience! Neil deGrasse Tyson's 2013 Show

im sure he would like it if is 80's pixelated images were hd'd the **** out, you know u would like it too...the only problem with the new cosmos i predict is that i don't believe neil will be able to as presentable as carl and as his uniquely divine knowledge and structure of explaining the...

    Linear Algebra Matrices Problem(s)

I am not sure i quite understand what you mean by when you say "Instead of solving for x in terms of y and z, and then y in terms of x and z, and then z in terms of x and y, just solve for x in terms of y and z, and leave y and z and parameters". I thought that's what i did above, but of...

    Linear Algebra Matrices Problem(s)

thanks for the lengthy response, I understood that first question after mark explained it, but now having troubles with the second one: 2x - 7y +3z = 11 how would I find x or y if I am always going to have 2 variables that I won't be able to find?

    Linear Algebra Matrices Problem(s)

Ok, I already have come across a small issue for this problem: http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/5315/m0a5.png The issue with this problem is that in the solution they are asking for "s" and "t" which I am guessing are substitutes for either x,y or z. Now when I break down the equation I get...

I think you meant positive 8, and it works with +8, thanks! I will attempt the other 2 and revive this if help is needed

Homework Statement Here is the problem: http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/6770/oaza.png Homework Equations None really, just gauss jordon elimination I assume unless I am missing out on something The Attempt at a Solution First I multiplied the first row by -5 then added...

not according to the computer it aint! oay, do u think you could shed some light on my linear equation?

Calculus Word + Linear Problem (2)

    ok i got this far : a = -1 -b b = 3 -c c = -1 -d d = -5 -a a being x1 b being x2 and so forth...just not sure what to do from this point on. If I plug one of the values into another they just cancel out each other, was I supposed to use gauss-Jordan elimination even further?

Calculus Word + Linear Problem (2)

ok thanks for that, i got the solution! -.8926990813x^2 + 18.5x ... now i really need help with the linear problem, please with a cherry on top with chocolate whipped cream.

Calculus Word + Linear Problem (2)

for the first question I did something like this (I have lots of notes scribbles, many attempts, easier to say what I did rather than write stuff out here, since it is much harder): perim=x+2*h+Pi*x=37 => h=(37-x-Pi*x)/2 A(x)=h*x+Pi*x^2=(37-x-Pi*x)*x+Pi*x^2=37x-x*x for the systems I just...

Calculus Word + Linear Problem (2)

    Ok I edited the first one and added a(x)= ? ... that's all the information I have on that question, and for the second one its hard to describe since I can't add a picture: its formatted as such: x1 + x2 = -1 x2 + x3 = 3 x3 + x4 = -1 x1 + x4 = -5 then there is 3 groups in a square bracket...
