The Nusselt number represents the ratio of heat transfer by convection relative to conduction.
At the onset of convection does this correspond to a Nusselt number of 1?
Hi sorry for the lack on context, this may help.
So i have a bunch of model output which essentially boils down to a plot of X against Y, where X can either contain one or two variables
There are two derived 'scalings' based on the governing physics nd I want to test if the two are...
I have been trying to follow the analysis of a paper where they claim that f-tests show model a is significantly better than model b.
Any ideas?
If not, can you link me to something regarding this bayesian analysis?
I am aware that f-tests can be used to check the null hypothesis when comparing regression models if the models are nested.
What I am confused about is if I can apply an f-test to compare the following, (and if so what is the best way)
I have two regression laws
Y = a1*X1 + a2*X2 + b
Y =...
Can you tell me which version of the book and which chapter you are referring to?
I have third edition and I cannot find spectral methods in the glossary.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Hi,
I am new to spectral methods, does anyone have a good reference which shows some worked examples of formulating the method to be computed?
E.g. go from the general governing equations through transformation to the form which will be passed to a computer.
Cheers
Hi all,
I am soon starting a research project into Earths core dynamics, and will be using a pre existing code. I understand the principle of DNS and resolving for all different resolutions. But I do not really understand how to implement that efficiently. Does anyone have any good resources...
Nothing in particular, I just feel that in these matters it is always nice to have multiple opinions, and experiences discussed. I feel that many people who have done this previously may have additional insight to this, as opposed to my supervisor who hasn't been a PhD student in many years.
Sorry if i was not clear, I have spoke to my supervisor and others in the department. I was more looking for further thoughts on the matter, particularly from other students.
Hi All,
Happy 2017!
I am a first year PhD student at a well respected research university for Fluid Dynamics research in England. My PhD research is in the field of Geophysical and Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics.
I am interested in gaining some writing, and publishing experience and I thought...
That's not really an. Option for me. I am not a fan of commercial cfd packages, and I do not enjoy or understand coding my own numerics in finite volumes. I use open foam for my finite volume needs. My research in rotating flows requires me to write my own numerics, and finite element is...
Hi, my background is in mathematics, and theoretical physics.
I am new to the realm of solving PDEs using Finite element methods, does anyone know of any good introductory level textbooks for course notes?
I had a poke around online and couldn't find anything overly useful.
Also I am...
