    Engineering Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering?

Thanks for all the replies guys. It really clears up what I was thinking and the fears I had regarding grades. I think I might switch over to aerospace due to the fact that I want to work at places like NASA, Boeing, SpaceX, etc, where the work is highly involved into flight, propulsion etc. I...

    Engineering Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering?

Thank you for your replies guys. If I want to work with spaceships and satellites and stuff, should I try instead to go for an aerospace degree instead?

    Engineering Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering?

Hi, I'm currently a Sophomore with a major in Mechanical Engineering. However, I'm really conflicted in deciding what my major should be. I really love anything space related and was thinking about switching my major to Aerospace Engineering. I want to eventually work at places such as NASA or...

Question regarding distance traveled by a trebuchet

How would you factor in the rotational force in it though? I'm still only a beginner in physics so I can't really figure it out. I understand how to use the conservation of energy but I'm not sure if the rotation will affect it. Is it just mgh + 1/2mv2 = mgh + 1/2mv2?

Question regarding distance traveled by a trebuchet

Homework Statement I need to find the distance traveled by a trebuchet. We were assigned to design and create one to launch a water balloon of roughly a mass of \approx50 grams. We are not allowed to test it, but must make a prediction of how far it would travel by using physics. The...

    Wormhole - Conservation of Mass

I'm going to apologize now if what I say doesn't really make sense, I'm still only learning the basics of physics. Let's say that few hundred or maybe thousands of years, we developed some sort of device that can rip a hole into the space time fabric to create a wormhole. If a spaceship...

Is This Scenario Demonstrating Newton's Third Law of Motion?

Let's say there's two people, A and B. Person A hits person B and person A gets pushed back more than person B does. Would be that be exhibiting Newton's Third Law of Motion of Newton's Second Law of Motion?

    Light approaching the event horizon

What would you see if you were on an aircraft near it that could hypothetically survive? Would you see light frozen in time, but technically gone? By that I mean would you just see an afterimage of it even though technically it's gone? Or Would you see light just vanish into the black...

    Schools Good astrophysics/astronomy universities?

What are some good astrophysics/astronomy universities in the US? About top 15? I know Chicago, Caltech, MIT, and Princeton(?) is good. I'm going to major Astrophysics/astronomy and will apply to college next year and I want to know where I can apply for those majors. Any suggestions?
