Have a problem? read this first

Unfortunately I just don't recall exactly how the page appeared before the upgrade, but I know I could see that whole posting. Unless the rendering was smaller somehow, I think there must have been horizontal scrollbars either inside the panel, or on the browser frame? That would be the...

Have a problem? read this first

This thread has an example in the 2nd post, I'm using FF 24.8.0 https://www.physicsforums.com/threads/definition-of-operator-exponential.771714/

Have a problem? read this first

Has anyone noticed that pages that have LaTeX formulas that extend horizontally past the current width of the browser window don't seem to have any scrollbars or way of scrolling horizontally without resizing the window (at least they don't for me using FF)?

    Definition Of Operator Exponential?

Thanks, that does make more sense now. So now I'm looking further at the original operator definition: \textbf{Z}|y\rangle_n = e^{\frac{2 \pi i y}{2^{n}}} |y\rangle_{n} In terms of number operators (again for the 4 bit case) this is again expressed as: \textbf{Z} = exp\big(\frac{i...

    Definition Of Operator Exponential?

I've been reading Mermin's book on Quantum Computer Science, and in the section in which he discusses the construction of a QFT using 1-Qbit and 2-Qbit gates, he makes reference to some expressions involving linear operators that I'm not familiar with (at least if I've seen them before I've...

Expectation value of composite observable in singlet state

    Aha - thanks, just looking at \tau_y|sing\rangle, I think the correct result is: \tau_y|sing\rangle = \frac{-i}{\sqrt{2}}(|uu\rangle + |dd\rangle) So, the eventual result is \frac{1}{\sqrt{2}}\frac{-i}{\sqrt{2}}(\langle ud| - \langle du|)(|du\rangle + |ud\rangle) which gives...

Expectation value of composite observable in singlet state

Homework Statement I've been reading Leonard Susskind's Theoretical Minimum volume on QM, and enjoying it quite a bit - the book doesn't include exercise solutions at the end though, and if they exist online for this volume I haven't been able to find them. (Perhaps if such solutions...
