I Drift velocity in P-N Junctions

In the depletion zone (when in reverse bias) there is a steeper potential gradient and so the drift current increases? I thought the current was dependent on the drift velocity

I Drift velocity in P-N Junctions

When a P-N junction is in reverse bias, the drift velocity of the system increases, so why is there no current flow? Is the drift velocity not connected to the current? Thanks in advance.

I Valence band and Fermi level difference?

That makes sense. Thanks very much.

I Valence band and Fermi level difference?

Thanks for your response. You say "The valence band is the energy below which there are available states for electrons to occupy" but my my Lecturer described the fermi level as the topmost filled level in the ground state of an N electron system, are these two different definitions?

I Valence band and Fermi level difference?

I was wondering what the difference was between the valence band and fermi level? How do we distinguish between the two? Thanks in advance.
