You don't need calculus before starting linear algebra, however I believe the general consensus is that you take calculus before linear algebra. It would not be smart, however, to try and do differential equations without first learning calculus :P You also don't need linear algebra before you...
Homework Statement
A 7500-kg rocket blasts off vertically from the launch pad with a constant upward acceleration of 2.25 m/s^2 and feels no appreciable air resistance. When it has reached a height of 525 m, its engines suddenly fail so that the only force acting on it is now gravity.

Yeah, d/dx[f(g(x))] = f'(g(x))g'(x). My bad, now I got the correct answer of f'(x) = cos x - 6cos^2 x sin x.. I think I used the power rule on 2cos^3 x by mistake before.
Homework Statement
Find f'(x) for f(x) = sin x + 2 cos^3 x
Homework Equations
Other than basic derivative properties and formulas, no.
The Attempt at a Solution
f'(x) = sin x + 2cos^3 x
= cos x - 6sin^2 x
The book says the answer is f'(x) = cos x -...
How did you go about learning calculus? Depending on your level, you may find it useful to go back through and work with a book such as Apostol volume 1 in order to see calculus in a more rigorous light. Have you done multivariable calculus yet? What about ordinary differential equations? Linear...
I'm putting together a list to hopefully help those who are seeking a textbook to use.
Please feel free to offer suggestions/corrections/etc. I'm starting with math and physics
for now but will branch out into other subjects after having a solid foundation. At some
point in the future, I hope...
Alright, I'll work through those notes and look for a precalculus course as after looking through a few curriculums for the material covered, it seems to be what I need to know like you had said plus this will obviously allow me to start calculus.
I don't think I was thinking very clearly when I said that this morning... Instead, please tell me how a good plan of attack would be for those notes and any supplementary material you'd recommend if that's what you think would be best :)
I'm going to be taking Algebra 2 this semester (even though I should be much further along by now but a teacher screwed up several years ago :( ) and I'd like to get ahead. Can anyone recommend a good textbook for this OTHER than what the class will be using? (I don't know what they'll be using...
That might be a good idea. I do have more than 7 hours a day to spend over the summer on studying these. Do you think that's enough time to do all of them?
