Bending of Light due to Gravity

I think reason #3 is the most correct one, but I also agree with phinds in that I'm not sure that #1 and #2 are totally incorrect.

Bending of Light due to Gravity

Photons and gravity If photons have no mass and are not subject to the dilation of their mass, when they travel at the speed of light, then why are they affected by gravity. I thought for something to be affected by gravity it had to have mass. Thanx Jim

    Odor absorbtion of baking soda

Well I used a lot of ammonia on the carpet so if that did not work I guess the baking soda won't either. How does it absorb odors from your fridge by just putting an open box in there? Jim

    Odor absorbtion of baking soda

I do not understand why baking soda is a good absorber of odors. Is it like activated charcoal or something? The reason I ask is because I have patch of odor in my carpet and someone suggested sprinkling baking soda on it. I just do not see this working. Also I have a carpet cleaning machine so...

Nuclear Fission Q&A: Japan Disaster & Fuel Rods

I have a question about nuclear fission reactors. If the reaction is stopped, then why do the fuel rods continue to heat up after being exposed to air to the point where it could cause a meltdown. Thank you Jim

Tried this in Physics, said try here

Is the cooler a heat pump also? Alot of coolers (mainly outdoor ones) are also designed to heat the cooler in the event that the outside temp drops below 0 C, or close to it, to prevent the contents of the cooler from freezing. Could be one of the sensors got a blast of cold air? telling the...

Acetone in gasoline and surface tension

I know that an increase in octane will not improve your engines performance, unless it is high compression, and it knocks and pings a lot without it. Plus naptha is kind of pricey last time I checked and I believe you would have to add much more than .08% to gain a noticeable increase in...

Acetone in gasoline and surface tension

I understand all about driving habits that can save you gas. I apply all of them whenever I can. What I am talking about is same car, same route, same driver, same road conditions, etc. How can you just say it's bogus? Do you have any evidence to back this up. There is some truth (however...

Acetone in gasoline and surface tension

I've have read that putting acetone (.08% by volume)into the gasoline for your automobile helps the gas to atomize better by decreasing the surface tension of the gasoline. I have a link here.http://www.pureenergysystems.com/news/2005/03/17/6900069_Acetone/ I tried it myself, and found the...

Can a Car Alternator be Submerged in Oil for Underwater Power Generation?

I don't have any experience running an alternator submerged in oil, but my gut instinct would be that any kind oil around the alternator would severly impead its ability to turn at a speed sufficient to generate the required amps. Jim
