I 4 spaceships are pulling a membrane through an asteroid belt

Thanks for your replies. I learned from your answers that the setup will not "collect" any rocks from the meteorite belt but causes some kind of space-tennis  I tried to understand if the "rubber-membrane" analogy explaining gravity by showing stars and planets curving the membrane could...

I What tests can falsify general relativity?

Thanks for the answers but i think my point concerning velocity of light was misunderstood. It is currently described and agreed as a constant in space, but it is not generally accepted that c is a constant in time, as well, as several VSL-approaches of the last years show. Wikipedia...

I Source of Gravity of heavy mass as per GTR

Yes i do agree. But given the reality is not only containing 4d but maybe more, than a 4d+ description could even do better than GR because describing for instance a 5d process in a 4d reference frame is limited in its expressivness.

I Source of Gravity of heavy mass as per GTR

Hi Dale, is there any picture available visualizing that topic in curved spacetime ? Thats my point, i can imagine and visualize the acceleration of rocket and its interiors. But i am not able to do that with USA and Australia ... Thx Carlo

I 4 spaceships are pulling a membrane through an asteroid belt

Given 4 spaceships are pulling an elastic rubber membrane with constant speed and slow velocity into an asteroid belt. - In that way, that they all start in empty space and have a constant low speed of say 50km/h as they reach the belt. - The four edges of the membrane are tied to one of the...

I Source of Gravity of heavy mass as per GTR

going back to the point of dale: beneath the accelerated rocket we can observe the movement of the rocket and understand instantly, how the gravitational effects inside the rocket work. So "where" is the movement i.e. the acceleration measured at the ground of the Earth ? Would a 5d observer...

I What is the current status of the Hubble-tension?

What is the current state of the discussion ? If I understood correctly, a methodical error can be excluded. Thanks in advance Carlo

I What tests can falsify general relativity?

at least, wiki says so ... "The speed of light in vacuum, commonly denoted c, is a universal physical constant important in many areas of physics. "

I Source of Gravity of heavy mass as per GTR

Regarding the equivalence principle of GTR, inertial mass and heavy mass are comparable, and are causing identically effects on mass objects. The pseudo force of inertial mass could be experienced in an accelerated frame of reference. In that point the "Force" appers, while energy is...

I What tests can falsify general relativity?

If someone could show that velocity of light is a parameter in time and not a constant, than STR would be falsified and GTR, as well ... Is that assupmtion correct ?

I GTR & STR: Could 9 Dimensions Unify Theory?

Thanks for your replies. dave: 9d was just a random number. martin: this >> Or are you asking whether space-time is actually higher dimensional and we only see 4 of the dimensions and how GR handles this?

I GTR & STR: Could 9 Dimensions Unify Theory?

Thank you for your replies. My question is heading in that direction: Given we accept as hypothetic boundary condition, that the physical reality contains of say 9 dimensions. Then my assupmtion would be, that STR and GTR are limited in describing the "entire" physical truth, due to it is...

I GTR & STR: Could 9 Dimensions Unify Theory?

Let's play pretend a progressive alien civilisation contacts us and an irrelevant conversation begins. Later on, an alien-scientist says: "by the way, the physical reality contains 9 dimensions. I heard a famous human theorist announced, that it should be 4. You have to touch up." Could the GTR...

B Moving in the 4th Dimension -- Does Time have a velocity?

Thanks for the answers so far. Another question concerning ibix's quote and the SRT resp. GRT in general. Do the SRT / GRT equations lead to a blockuniverse as a "must" or are there other interpretations possible with a dynamic universe, as well ?
