Is getting a MS or PhD the only option to get a good job?

Hi Choppy, I will look into the community colleges and engineering technology nearby. Thanks for the suggestion!

Is getting a MS or PhD the only option to get a good job?

I mean 50k a year or more by decent pay (as far as these types of fields go). You're right, it's subjective though. I think you may misunderstand me, though. I actually intend to go get a degree in engineering eventually, but for now I'm content with working in practically any science job...

Thought I'd better quote you in case you get updated this way.

Is getting a MS or PhD the only option to get a good job?

Hi ModusPwned, Engineering is the field I want to go into, which is why I'm not interested in pursuing a masters/phd at my current university. That's confusing, so let me explain a bit. My current university is the only one I can go to right now for a variety of reasons (the majority being...

Is getting a MS or PhD the only option to get a good job?

Are there any low level (B.S. Physics) jobs out there that pay well? I'm split between Geology and Physics and I just learned that the job prospects for a B.S. in Geology are bad. My goal is to get a job as soon as possible, regardless of my major, and then means I am not interested in spending...

What type of degree reflects this kind of expertise?

Update: I found out some information on it. Apparently it's just called "Computer Security" and there are a few specializations within it.

What type of degree reflects this kind of expertise?

Hello, I've heard a bit about "information systems" and "computer security systems technology" but I haven't been able to find anything about this type of study at my college's website. I don't think these terms are correct, but I wouldn't be surprised if there is something similar. The...

Exploring the Relationship between -ln(-∞) and ln(∞)

Oh, ok. So you can have a negative natural log function (-ln|cscx+cotx| for instance) but you cannot have the natural log of a negative number unless you involve imaginary numbers. I haven't really seen much of imaginary numbers, but I hear they're used a bit in D.E.

Exploring the Relationship between -ln(-∞) and ln(∞)

Ah, ok. So ln(-#) is the same as -ln(#)... That makes sense, actually. I had forgotten what the graph of the natural log function looks like. Thanks guys. It's the first time I've asked a math question online and actually received a correct answer! -Drc

Exploring the Relationship between -ln(-∞) and ln(∞)

Hi Tim! Ah... clumsy me. I knew that. I really did. Well, used to... So if you have ln(-∞), is that essentially ∞ or -∞? I'm finding the solution for a calculus III improper integrals question. I guess it doesn't matter, though, because either way it diverges (a possible solution)...

Exploring the Relationship between -ln(-∞) and ln(∞)

For instance, say I have -ln(-∞) Does the negative sign on the natural log cancel with the negative sign on the infinity? Is this true? -ln(-∞) = ln(∞) Thank you -Drc

Struggling with teacher and class: Should I CLEP or retake?

Dang it. CLEP isn't an option anymore, I guess. Well, not I can either retake it and get an A in the next semester or try to make up for my bad test and finish with a B. Hmmm... I have until November 2 (or around there) to withdraw without a grade so if it keeps going badly, I could do it. I...

Struggling with teacher and class: Should I CLEP or retake?

Hi TheKracken. I'm almost completely sure you can CLEP all 12 credit hours of Calculus, but I'll go find out now to be 100% sure. Update: So far I can't find any information about whether the CLEP applies to calculus 1 or all of them. If anyone has done it or knows about it, I'd appreciate input.

Struggling with teacher and class: Should I CLEP or retake?

Hello, I think this is my first post here, but I've lurked for quite a while as a silent user and even before then as a non-user. I'm currently enrolled and majoring in pre-engineering at a community college in Mississippi. So far, I've taken Algebra, Trig, and calculus 1, and I'm...
