Banked Curve - Minimum Turn Radius

I got sloppy with the paint tool. Sorry. It was supposed to be I.C. , the acronym for instantaneous center. Okay next fundamental question, there are 3 additional forces acting on the particle. The friction force, force due to bank angle and the normal force due to gravity. 1) Is the force...

Banked Curve - Minimum Turn Radius

First of all. Thanks for your help. I clearly am having a physics fundamental issue here. I have a fundamental question before I rehash the scenario here.Centripetal force is sucking the car in towards the instantaneous center of rotation right?

Banked Curve - Minimum Turn Radius

I am confused because the solutions states: Fc = Ff + FθThe overhead view looks like this. Right?

Banked Curve - Minimum Turn Radius

Car is on a 5 degree bank. Did I still mess up the FBD?

Banked Curve - Minimum Turn Radius

I am confused. Is my FBD messed up? I see a gravitational force in the direction of the centripetal force.

Banked Curve - Minimum Turn Radius

Homework Statement A car traveling 10 m/s is moving along a track banked at 5 degrees. The tire-road friction coefficient is .3 What is the minimum radius it can travel without slipping? v0= 10 m/s Bank Angle Θ = 5° μ=0.3 Note I am working through prep material for the exam. The solution...

Mass spring system - unknown spring constant

https://www.physicsforums.com/threads/spring-constant-in-mass-spring-combinations.712165/ This thread shows how to combine equivalent spring constants in different arrangements. I was adding them all in parallel. I see my mistake now. Thanks Chet, I'll keep the questions coming.

yes, I should have put that in the problem stmt.

Mass spring system - unknown spring constant

    Homework Statement Problem: [/B] Given the mass spring system solve for k1 The natural frequency wn = 10 s-1 k1=2k2 m=1kg Homework Equations wn=(k/m).5 The Attempt at a Solution solve for k1 m x w2n =2.5k1 k1 = 40 N/mNote: I calculate 40 N/m and the solution states 250 N/m. I think I...

    Instantanious center of rotation problems

Homework Statement [PLAIN]http://i61.tinypic.com/10dwmtv. what is the instantaneous center of rotation for the rigid body. OA = 16 AB = 25 AD = 60 BC = 35 ωOA=2s-1 Homework Equations Vb=ωCB*BC The Attempt at a Solution I am assuming the values angles and vectors from red...

Engineering Elementary Linear Circuits - Dependent Sources

Ya I messed that up. I will begin at the node with 2i going in and i going out. It seems that I overlooked this situation. If 2 i is going in and i is going out then the 3 ohm resistor must have 1i going into that to have a KCL law satisfied.
