Ya I realized my error, when doing the potential I only did 2 of the 3 possible pairs. Once I realized that it fell together. Thanks for all your help!
I got the idea but the one thing I can't solve for right now is the other moving charge. How do I incorporate that into the Potential equation? If it was fixed I would have it, but since the radius of the 3rd charge is changing with the radius of the 1st charge I can't seem to find the right...
Ya, thanks for pointing out my first problem, after making the correct change I got the right answer. Still don't see the way around the speed though, since its a point mass and its going off to infinity so I get a ln(infinity) in my answer in my equation of K_1 + U_1 = K_2 + U_2.
Having some trouble with an electric potential problem. I thought I understood it but I keep getting an infinity in the equation which just can't happen.
Three small spheres with charge 2.00 mC are arranged in a line, with sphere 2 in the middle. Adjacent spheres are initially 8.00 cm apart...
Err sorry. It wants me to find the E-field at the Point X=R/2.
Let me put up a picture to help:
http://mp.pearsoncmg.com/probhtml/yf.Figure.22.64.jpg
So I found that the E-field at Point X=0 is:
E = Q/(4*pi*epsilon_0*(2R) ^2 sicne the point is at the center of the first sphere its...
I'm stuck on a Electrostatic problem which I just don't seem to get.
The left-hand sphere has a positive charge Q and the right-hand sphere has a negative charge -Q. Charge is distibuted uniformly over each of two spherical volumes with radius . One sphere of charge is centered at the origin...
Well first here is the question:
A deep-sea diver is suspended beneath the surface of Loch Ness by a cable of length h that is attached to a boat on the surface . The diver and his suit have a total mass of m and a volume of V. The cable has a diameter of d and a linear mass density of mu...
What makes me say it doesn't work is that I have to do my homework on a website, www.masteringphysics.com, and when I input that for the answer it rejects it.
First, thanks for the initial error in my math. Second, that makes some sense but I dont' see how it helps me. With this change I can't even solve for L using the first equation because another unknown is thrown into the equation.
Using what you said I get this for the initial equation...
Stuck on some wave problems now. I understand the basica ideas and formulas but these questions seem to be throwing me for a loop.
Question 1:
A massive aluminum sculpture is hung from a steel wire. The fundamental frequency for transverse standing waves on the wire is 200 Hz. The...
What mav wrote is pretty correct. However in my experience there are different insert/remove methods that must be used depending on the situation.
When inserting it is best to check first if the list is empty, if so you then do one insert where the head becomes the new node you're trying to...
Well I swear I am doing this right but something seems that its the wrong answer as the website I enter it into is rejecting it. If you see a flaw in my methods let me know:
The two ends of an insulated metal rod are maintained at a temperature differential of 100 degrees C . The rod has a...
