Why doesn’t the water fall out of the Earth?

The fact that there is a glass of water is all you need to know that gravity is the dominant force acting on the water. You can not have a glass of water on the space station because gravity is no longer dominant.

B Could we shade the Earth from the Sun to save Earth?

I appreciate all the posts. It turns out that this is in part an old idea. There is a Wikipedia site named Space sunshade but these solutions are all in response to Global Warming not extending the life of the planet when the "habitable zone" no longer includes Earth. So from that perspective...

B Could we shade the Earth from the Sun to save Earth?

Saving Earth - for a while: Could we shade the Earth from the Sun at a rate that keeps up with the Sun’s increase in Luminosity? There is a theoretical Dyson’s Ring that could be built around the Sun that would be used to tap the energy of the Sun. Could we construct something like that to...

B Possible to see the moons of Jupiter/Saturn with decent set of binoculars?

I use a pair of 15 x70 Skymaster binoculars by Celestron in an almost dark sky area. I can usually see 2 moons of Jupiter and about 15 galaxies. I really enjoy using these binoculars over my telescope because I can do so much more in 20-30 minutes.

Exploring Black Holes: Uncovering Inner Structures with Gravity Waves

I'm a structural engineer in Mississippi and I love all aspects of cosmology. I want to learn all I can about gravity wave technology. I was not expecting the level of detail that a single event is revealing. It's very interesting that they expect to see gravity waves from objects other than...
