Engineering Road to R&D: Electrical Engineer Qualifications & Academic Career

hmmm... i guess it makes more sense, i can't afford paying for Msc anyways. I dream of getting into caltech or mit, i know it's very very hard but i am going to try anyway, to be honest, tht polar vortex got me like " if i ever go there what am i going to do, i am very cold here and it's like 5...

Engineering Road to R&D: Electrical Engineer Qualifications & Academic Career

well, in case i had to complete a Msc first, i guess maybe 29-30 and applying for a phD program. if i had a Msc from my home country and got a PhD in, let's say the us, will have a good chance of employment or will that Msc be a disadvantage

Engineering Road to R&D: Electrical Engineer Qualifications & Academic Career

Is it possible as an electrical engineer to make a transition to data science? And is there R&D in this field ?

Engineering Road to R&D: Electrical Engineer Qualifications & Academic Career

so to sum up, it will be much easier to get a degree from the country i like first then apply to a job it , couple of questions though 1- is age a factor? i mean if i apply when i am like early 30's , will my chances be less? 2- is better to get a Msc then a PhD or should i try to go for a PhD...

Engineering Road to R&D: Electrical Engineer Qualifications & Academic Career

@Joshy @berkeman well...the thing is..i live from egypt xD A little about my country, we have ZERO R&D labs here, so no , unfortunately i don't have any work experience , i am planning to pursue this career abroad, probably europe since i already speak fluent english and french. I do have a...

Engineering Road to R&D: Electrical Engineer Qualifications & Academic Career

I am going to graduate this year with a bachelor in electrical energy engineering, i am very passionate about designing and fixing problems, i would love to work in the R&D department of some multi-national company, but i don't know where to start. What qualifications do they usually ask for...

Efficient DC Estimator Algorithms for Half-Cycle Sampled Signals

I got confused too when i was typing the reply , i will tell him to try it. Will parameter estimators ( like maximum likelyhood for example ) work?

Efficient DC Estimator Algorithms for Half-Cycle Sampled Signals

    So for example if i have a signal with period 6 s and i am taking a sample every 1 s Lets say 0 1 1 3 2 4 3 2 If i assumed that 4 -3 5 -4 6 -2 The fundemetal component should be the same but other coefficient will be changed?

Efficient DC Estimator Algorithms for Half-Cycle Sampled Signals

i didnt really understand what you said about the polynomilas, can you explain more please, if you don't mind. about duplication ... he can't do that because there is no half wave symmetry ( the real function is actually longer than what i wrote , i just tried to give a simplified example)...

Efficient DC Estimator Algorithms for Half-Cycle Sampled Signals

What he basically wants to do is get the graph of the integral of the function where C=0 But when he used numerical integration methods (because he doesn't have the function he has points) he got the right graph but there is a dc offset , he wants to remove it to get the right graph

Efficient DC Estimator Algorithms for Half-Cycle Sampled Signals

Doesnt fft require an integer number of cycles sampled? As for the filters, he tried on MATLAB to multiply by this transfer function ( (1-z)/(1-0.95z)) he read somewhere online that this T.F blocks dc , then he set the simulation to end after half the period and it didnt work.

Efficient DC Estimator Algorithms for Half-Cycle Sampled Signals

Sorry for the late reply, i am asking for a friend so i had to get back to him, he said " he has a half cycle of the function not just the x or the 4x , he can't get a full cycle because the period is very long he doesn't have time to get a full cycle ( it's some kind of mechanical application...

Efficient DC Estimator Algorithms for Half-Cycle Sampled Signals

Yes it would work but i can't because i don't have the full cycle so i can't get its average

Efficient DC Estimator Algorithms for Half-Cycle Sampled Signals

I wanted to remove the dc component from a signal but i can't use the average method because i have only a half cycle sampled not a full cycle . Is there any algorithm or method that can remove the dc component using only a half cycle? (The signal is sin(x)+2*sin (2x) +3*cos (3x)+4*cos (4x) +5...

Position of brushes on the commutator in a DC generator

I still don't know why we put the brush at the point where the current is 0, we need max output so we should put it where the emf is max right?
