At at a flower show, John approached his rival Sam
and said, "Your ferns are wonderful, but you used
to grow prize-winning anemones. Why the change?"

    Sam's response:
. . "With fronds like these, who needs anemones?"

A very conservative math student asked a colleague: "I'm looking for a solution to $x^2 - 2$. Any ideas?"

The other student replied, "How about $\sqrt{2}$?".

The first student thought about this for a moment, then shook his head: "Nah, that's too radical".

He has a point: better write it as 1.41.
