How does it bleach hair? My Chemistry professor at college told us about how chemical straightening works, but failed to explain how peroxide can change hair colour.
Thanks a bunch!

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a chemical compound made up of two hydrogen atoms and two oxygen atoms. It is a colorless and odorless liquid that is commonly used as an antiseptic, bleaching agent, and oxidizer.
Hydrogen peroxide works by breaking down into water and oxygen when it comes into contact with certain enzymes or other substances. This process releases oxygen that can help kill bacteria and other harmful microorganisms.
When used properly, hydrogen peroxide is generally considered safe. However, it can be harmful if ingested or if it comes into contact with the eyes or skin in high concentrations. It is important to follow the instructions on the product label and to use caution when handling hydrogen peroxide.
Hydrogen peroxide has a variety of uses, including as a disinfectant for cuts and wounds, a teeth whitening agent, a household cleaner, and a hair and skin bleaching agent. It is also used in industrial and medical settings for its oxidizing properties.
There is limited scientific evidence to support the use of hydrogen peroxide as a natural remedy. While it may have some antibacterial properties, it is important to use caution and consult with a healthcare professional before using it for this purpose. It should also never be ingested, as this can be harmful.
