Homework Statement
A larger diameter cylinder produces more force. Can you suggest several disadvantages of increasing the diameter of a cylinder?
The Attempt at a Solution
All I can think of is that there's limited range of motion meaning the cylinder wouldn't be able to move that much of an distance, so if a car was to be hoisted up really far, the cylinder with a smaller diameter be better because even though more air pressure KPa is required, it wouldn't be able to move much due to it's size, and usually the cylinder that doesn't have a big diameter would have a longer height which contributes to more rang of motion and the speed of it's movement would be much slower since it would be heavy due to its mass.
