Not sure if the best board; but what could I do when or if certain site or page icons do not look proper? Like what should be the Alerts icon or the one that should look like the envelope icon, instead appear this way:

pf_icons_in_suprm.PNG

Anything I can do, other than different browser?

Try a cache refresh if you haven't done that? It's usually ctrl-F5 on PC desktop browsers, and worth a google if you're using something else.

Is that with the browser open or while keeping the browser closed?

I tried that clearing cache. No change. Same dull redundant square or rectangular icons instead of the nice design forms.

At least one thing I am finding is that if I place mouse pointer onto one of those dull generic icons and let it set a couple of seconds, a little caption appears telling what that icon stands for. At least for Physicsforums.

I've no more ideas then, sorry. You'll have to see what someone like Greg comes up with.

It would probably help to state your browser and its version number and the same for yourOS.

I've always dreamed of having formless icons !

Guess that's not all that's needed to be an iconoclast .
