Which is ABS( A - B) / A * 100% = ANS
Anyway to do it without A? My proff says we should know it or be able to figure it out?

I'm not sure I understand the question, because it looks like your 'proff' is pulling your leg.

When you calculate a percent difference, you're determining by what ratio one thing differs from another. I don't see any way to make that determination if you're missing one of the "things". It would be like saying "an elephant is how much bigger?" Unless you know "than what", there's not much you can say.

Is it possible you misunderstood what you were supposed to do? Do you have it written down anywhere?

There is no way to accurately calculate the percent difference without knowing the value of A. The formula provided, ABS( A - B) / A * 100%, relies on the value of A in order to determine the percentage difference between A and B. It is important for scientists to have a thorough understanding of the variables and equations involved in their research, and being able to calculate the percent difference with the value of A is a crucial aspect of this understanding. If there is any uncertainty or difficulty in obtaining the value of A, it is important to address this issue and find a solution in order to accurately calculate the percent difference.

Related to Percent Difference w/o A: How to Calculate

1. What is percent difference without A and why is it important?

Percent difference without A is a mathematical calculation used to compare two values or measurements. It is important because it allows scientists to determine the percentage of change between two values, which can provide valuable insights into the significance of their results.

2. How do you calculate percent difference without A?

To calculate percent difference without A, you first subtract A from both values and then divide the difference by the average of the two values. The resulting value is then multiplied by 100 to get the percentage. The formula is: (B - A) / ((A + B) / 2) x 100.

3. Can percent difference without A be negative?

Yes, percent difference without A can be negative. This indicates that the second value is smaller than the first value. A negative percent difference without A is still a valid calculation and can provide important information about the magnitude of change between the two values.

4. What is the difference between percent difference without A and percent change?

Percent difference without A and percent change are similar calculations, but they serve different purposes. Percent difference without A compares two values, while percent change compares one value to a previous value. Additionally, percent change can only be calculated when the original value is known, whereas percent difference without A can be calculated with any two values.

5. How is percent difference without A used in scientific research?

Percent difference without A is commonly used in scientific research to compare the results of experiments or observations. It can also be used to compare data from different studies or to track changes over time. By calculating the percent difference without A, scientists can determine the significance of their results and draw conclusions about the relationship between variables.
