Math Questions: Multiplication, Division & Partial Fractions

In summary, the conversation was about clarifying the meaning of multiplication, division, and partial fractions of variables A and B. The summary states that multiplication of A and B is represented by A*B, multiplication of A by B also means A*B, division of A by B means A/B, and partial fraction of A over B means A/B. The conversation ended with the confirmation of these meanings.

Homework Statement

Actually i want to ask something actually very easy...
i just don't know the meaning of some words in different questions...
firstly... multiplication of A and B means A*B right?
how about multiplication of A by B means A*B or A/B??

secondly... division of A by B means A/B or B/A?
which one is at the bottom??

thirdly... partial fraction of A over B means A/B right??

i want to ask these questions just to justify with answer...

please help me and thanks...

Yes.

It means A*B. The other is not multiplication.

secondly... division of A by B means A/B or B/A?
which one is at the bottom??
A/B. The one you are dividing by is on the bottom.

thirdly... partial fraction of A over B means A/B right??
Certainly "A over B" means A/B but I don't know what you mean by "partial fraction"

i want to ask these questions just to justify with answer...

Related to Math Questions: Multiplication, Division & Partial Fractions

1. What is the difference between multiplication and division?

Multiplication is the process of finding the total of equal groups, while division is the process of finding how many equal groups can be made from a given total.

2. How do I solve a multiplication problem?

To solve a multiplication problem, you need to multiply the given numbers together. This can be done by using the traditional method of writing the numbers in a vertical format and then multiplying each digit by the corresponding digits in the other number. You can also use strategies such as skip counting or using a multiplication table.

3. When should I use long division?

Long division is used when the divisor (the number you are dividing by) is more than one digit. It is also useful when the quotient (the answer) is a non-terminating decimal.

4. What are partial fractions?

Partial fractions are a way of breaking down a complex fraction into smaller, simpler fractions. This is often done to make it easier to solve the original problem.

5. How do I know if my partial fraction decomposition is correct?

You can check if your partial fraction decomposition is correct by adding all the fractions back together. The resulting fraction should be equivalent to the original fraction. You can also check by substituting in values for the variables and comparing the results of the original fraction and the decomposed fractions.
