Lost Aspheric Lens Design Equation Found

In summary, the conversation discussed ideal shapes for lenses and a broken link that was shared in an old thread. A member was able to find the correct link on the Internet Archive, which contained an aspheric lens equation. The link was later updated in the old thread. Fair Use was also mentioned in relation to sharing a screenshot of the equation.

Hi all,

I was interested in ideal shapes for lenses and Google popped up this very old thread:
"Mathematical shape for a lens with no spherical aberration"A member named Redbelly98 replied (<link>) with a now-broken link to a Thorlabs page that gave an aspheric lens equation.

Took a minute, but I think this is the page with that equation (on the page's "Lens Equation" tab) safely preserved on Internet Archive:
"Molded Glass Aspheric Lenses: 350 - 700 nm or 400 - 600 nm AR Coating" - Thorlabs

I edited a screencap of the formula (for compactness)
from the ThorLabs web-page, by virtue of Fair Use
bcoz U.S.Code Title 17, Section 107, blah blah blah
