'Largest' Schrodinger cat states created to date?

In summary, a Schrodinger cat state is a quantum state that exists in a superposition of two or more different states. These states are created through quantum superposition and can be measured by the number of coherent qubits. The creation of larger Schrodinger cat states has the potential to advance quantum computing and other fields, and may lead to new technologies and discoveries.

Hey,

I've been searching around for papers reporting on the creation of relatively large cat states, the largest I have been able to find are by Wineland, and are on the scale of nano meters.

Does anyone know of any articles where such states have been created (experimentally) and reported on?

Thanks

Neat,

Thanks!

Related to 'Largest' Schrodinger cat states created to date?

1. What is a "Schrodinger cat" state?

A Schrodinger cat state is a quantum state that exists in a superposition of two or more different states, similar to the famous thought experiment involving a cat in a box. This means that the state is in multiple states at the same time until it is observed or measured, at which point it collapses into a single state.

2. How are "Schrodinger cat" states created?

"Schrodinger cat" states are created through a process called quantum superposition, where two or more different states are combined and exist simultaneously. This is typically done using advanced quantum computing techniques.

3. What is the significance of creating larger "Schrodinger cat" states?

Creating larger "Schrodinger cat" states allows for more complex quantum systems to be studied and manipulated. This can lead to advancements in fields such as quantum computing and quantum information processing.

4. How do scientists measure the size of "Schrodinger cat" states?

The size of "Schrodinger cat" states is typically measured by the number of coherent qubits, which are the basic units of quantum information. The more coherent qubits that can be maintained in a superposition state, the larger the "Schrodinger cat" state.

5. What are the potential applications of "Schrodinger cat" states?

"Schrodinger cat" states have potential applications in quantum computing, cryptography, and communication. They may also lead to a better understanding of fundamental quantum principles and allow for the exploration of new technologies and discoveries.
