step 3
=2^(n +1)-2+1/2^(n+1)
I don't know how steps 2 and 3 where achieved
can someone please help me

Step 2 is simply 1/2n = 2/2n+1.

Step 3 doesn't look right. Could you clarify the expression?

2^(n +1) -2+1 / 2^(n+1)
this just means that: 2 to the power of (n+1) -2+1 divided by 2 to the power of (n+1)
the next step is
2^(n +1) -1 / 2^(n+1)

You need to put in parentheses. It is not clear what -2 and +1 relate to.
