Alex van Halen is terrific here. I'd say this was the birth of 21st century rock drumming.

I feel a little guilty because you have made such interesting contributions to my music thread and I did not know what a mash up even was until fairly recently!

I was never a big fan of the medley and this seems like an extension of this so I have little to offer.
They are clever I will give you that.

The tune and chords could go awry quite easily so it obviously takes some imagination and skill to knit these tunes together.

ABBA and Van Halen? Who would have thought!?
I like the drumming on this even though this is not my favourite era for drum sound.

It would be fun to try his kit out full blast!

1960s to 1970s for me, the 1980s everything started to get ultra produced, sure you could hear a lot more but I dot want to hear an ant walking over my floor tom.
I want to hear that Bonham boom! I think Buddy Rich is the only drummer that maintained a realistic drum sound live, he succumbed eventually in the studio.
Where is peaks is matter of taste, 1985 San Francisco, “Mr Drums” is great but there a couple of Jazz festivals with close miking that sound pretty good.
Cologne 1980 is great and Montreal (I think) 1982

You are not alone. My first mashup was of of Nat King Cole and Ornette Coleman. I sent it to my hardcore avant guarde musician friend. He said it made him feel as though his brain were melting.

My first fourway.

Edgerunners Cosplay : Kleiner Pixel
Vocals : Nico [Fate Gear - Arashine]
Drone : Brian Eno [Talking Heads - The Overload]
Drums : Eric Slick [Adrian Belew Power Trio - E]

I like the thick atmosphere of Talking Head's The Overload, which is about the Three Mile Island meltdown. Boring though. The sort of thing where once is cool but that's enough for one lifetime. It needed some spiffing up, better singing particularly. Contemporized to refer to the notorious Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, now a pawn in the war. The trap drums evoke a Geiger counter. That's the intent at least.

So what are those lyrics about? Though they sound eastern European they are in Japanese. As far as I can tell the subject is Arashine : current nominee and former member of the archeology platoon, she has a beautiful voice, excellent artistic sense, and a gentle and strong nature. Rescued by an ascendant after experiencing a red tide avalanche with a space station.

So there you go.
