Dig a trench filled with water rather than build the wall?

In summary, the topic of politics as a thread starter has been banned in the General Discussion section of the forum. Political points and discussion may still be used within threads, but threads may not have a political origin. The Current News Events forum may have threads with a political origin, but they must be within the framework of a specific news event. Opinion pieces and open-ended thoughts with no story attached will no longer be allowed. These guidelines are effective immediately, with threads dated 4-3-16 and earlier being exempt.

Might sound really stupid, but will it be more economical if instead of wall, a WIDE trench filled with water from adjoining ocean and river is allowed to flow in.

With both the ends of the trench connected to the ocean, we can allow water to flow in during high tides, and flown out during low tides.

Related to Dig a trench filled with water rather than build the wall?

1. Why dig a trench filled with water instead of building a wall?

Digging a trench filled with water is a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly method of creating a barrier compared to building a traditional wall. It also allows for easy drainage and maintenance.

2. How does a water-filled trench compare to a wall in terms of effectiveness?

A water-filled trench can be just as effective as a wall in preventing intruders or controlling water flow. It creates a physical barrier and the water can also act as a deterrent for animals or humans.

3. What are the potential drawbacks of using a water-filled trench?

One potential drawback is the need for a constant water supply to keep the trench filled. There may also be maintenance and safety concerns, such as preventing stagnant water or ensuring proper drainage.

4. Are there any other benefits to using a water-filled trench?

Aside from cost-effectiveness and environmental friendliness, a water-filled trench can also serve as a natural habitat for aquatic plants and animals. It can also add aesthetic value to a property.

5. How deep and wide should a water-filled trench be?

The depth and width of a water-filled trench will depend on its intended purpose. For security purposes, a deeper and wider trench may be needed to prevent intruders from crossing. For water control, the depth and width will depend on the expected water flow and drainage needs.
