Finding mass of an object on a spring, given Frequency

Haha, so I attempted to solve my systems of equations three different times and got a very large negative mass, I just attempted it again and got the correct answer. Sorry about that ... cheers

Finding mass of an object on a spring, given Frequency

Homework Statement A mass m at the end of a spring oscillates with a frequency of 0.84 Hz . When an additional 730 g mass is added to m, the frequency is 0.65 Hz . Homework Equations f*2pi = w w = (k/m)^1/2 f = (1/2pi)*(k/m)^1/2 The Attempt at a Solution I simply used the third equation...

Solving Block & Spool: Finishing Line & Work-Energy

So the spool's string will unwind and the hand pulling on it will move farther than the hand pulling on the block? Thus making the spool require more work over the distance (higher KE due to rotational + translational).

Solving Block & Spool: Finishing Line & Work-Energy

Homework Statement A block and a spool are each pulled across a level, frictionless surface by a string. The string wrapped around the spool will unwind as it is pulled. Both the block and the spool have the same mass and are pulled with the same constant tension. Which will cross the finish...
