Amount of nuclear power need to propel a shuttle at the speed of light

this could very well be a fluke but even so the laws of physics say the speed of light is the speed limit of the universe so there really shouldn't be any flukes becuase its a black and white rule. it will be very interesting to see how this all pans out.

Amount of nuclear power need to propel a shuttle at the speed of light

to me the cern results are also very exciting, it doesn't mean we have to rewrite physics because like you guys have said no object with mass can travel at c, due to needing infinite acceleration and the mass also increasing infinitely. but it does mean that c is no longer the speed limit of the...

Observed planets in binary star L4 or L5?

From what I've read and been able to figure out is that the stars wouild probably have to have a close to equal gravitational pull on the planets otherwise the orbits of the planets would cross and adn they would collide. It seems as though the orbits would be to unstable to keep planets around...

Amount of nuclear power need to propel a shuttle at the speed of light

yes i understand no resting mass can reach c, to be repeatedly told i am wrong. my whole scenario was supposed to be hypothetical and i jus wanted to check my answer. tho i do appreciate everyones insight! thanks!

Gleise 581g; does it exist and could it harbor life?

thats true but you don't hear of biodomes as much anymore, and i agree we should stick with the planet we have, but human instinct is to expand and develop regardless of right or wrong we can't change the way our society has accepted the method of developing everything we think of. but if Earth...

Exploring an Infinite Universe: Science & Facts

that is my unsupportable postion atleast with current technology, but it is a fathamable and possible theory. as of now there is no way to be sure, everything about this topic is speculation.

Gleise 581g; does it exist and could it harbor life?

we should begin to put more effort into exploring and testing on both enceladus and titan, both are very intriguing and would be very miraculous if in fact they did harbor any kind of life. because from there we can begin devising ways to make it more habitable for humans. one idea i have came...

Exploring an Infinite Universe: Science & Facts

The universe is finite but like explain earlier with an ant on a beach ball to the eye it would seem infinite because the only dimensions we can see is the ones we are in. If you were born and lived on an island all your life you might think that the island is all there is. So if you cannot see...

Gleise 581g; does it exist and could it harbor life?

I have read the list of planets found by kepler and its astounding to think that out of the billions of stars 30 percent could have habitable planets. i also found that figure breathtaking. all of these new developments have been so compelling and i agree with the time scale on this matter...

Gleise 581g; does it exist and could it harbor life?

i have read about enceledas as well and both moons are mainly ice meaning they both would have harvestable water. but these moons do not volcanic activity which is fundamental in generating oxygen/carbon dioxide. and yes we will probly never leave this planet before our race is extinct but...

Gleise 581g; does it exist and could it harbor life?

Marcus, i believe robotics, and the advancement in robotics is the worst thing humans could engineer. i think that when we decide to make our mark across the milkyway and beyond we'll have to make our evironments more suitable, e.i. terra forming. humans are just so evolutionary advanced that we...

Gleise 581g; does it exist and could it harbor life?

my previous post about using nuclear power to travel near or at the speed of light was solely inspired by gleise581g. this system being relatively close at 20.5 LY away, which with current propulsion technology would take around 300,000 Earth years to travel there. although this extrasolar...

Amount of nuclear power need to propel a shuttle at the speed of light

Through the wormhole is just the name, hosted by morgan freeman it discusses the most intriguing topics in a documentary format with some of the more well know scientists. But where should i start?

Amount of nuclear power need to propel a shuttle at the speed of light

also looking back on my work i saw where i messed up and 5.62x10^35 was one of the first numbers i came up with, i have a tendency to over think things.

Amount of nuclear power need to propel a shuttle at the speed of light

thank you both i really apreciate the help, again i am only 19 and the most experience i have is watching through the wormhole with morgan freeman and high school physics. i am highly interested in learning more and perhaps someday help make an impact on the astrophysics world. also i believe...
