Find magnetic field strength and maximum force

Maximum force possible is when wire is perpendicular to magnetic field. sin90 = 1, biggest possible. sin (other angles) will result in a smaller answer. So maximum force is BIL (B-magnetic field strength, I-current, L-length [full length as totally perpendicular]) B is your previous answer.

Thank you all for replying, appreciate it. Will look up further information.

Car speeding up around a circle

Perhaps what they meant by acceleration is the centripetal acceleration? If the linear acceleration is given?

How Do You Determine the Coefficient of Friction Between Two Sheets of Paper?

I see, I thought huymai meant static friction coefficient as written in part 3. If it is kinetic friction coefficient, then there is no need for the ramp. just connect the heavy object (with paper surface) to a spring balance and pull. Take the reading of the minimun force required to keep the...

Force with friction, pulleys and cords

From my friend: The acceleration of both blocks cannot be the same. Because one of the features of movable pulley is that you must apply force over 2d distance to move the load by d distance. This is due to the fact the force is distributed with the wall, so you will need to move over twice...

Force with friction, pulleys and cords

Perhaps the reason why a(B) is not equals to a(A) in your original working is because there is a movable pulley. Force would be halved but distance doubled to do the same amount of work, so A would move through 0.5X the distance of B?

How Do You Determine the Coefficient of Friction Between Two Sheets of Paper?

Perhaps it is possible to use a heavy object with a paper surface (as suggested before) and also a wooden plank with a paper surface. Place the object with paper surface on plank, slowly lift plank to the angle whereby the object first starts to slide. Use trigonometry to find the angle, you...

Force with friction, pulleys and cords

The reason that I felt the cord on the other side will not affect the net force is because as block B slides, the cord will move towards the other side. 2 m per sec is rather fast and I thought that the movable pulley will slide along the cord and hence the cord attached to wall might not affect...

How Do You Determine the Coefficient of Friction Between Two Sheets of Paper?

By your method in 3, I am assuming that you want to measure the static friction coefficient between the two paper. I have no idea what type of ramp you intend to make (wood with paper surface or entirely out of paper), whatever it is, make sure the paper (the sliding one, not the ramp) is...

Force with friction, pulleys and cords

There is no guarantee to my answer but here goes: Friction of ground on B is μk*N (where N is normal force of ground on block B which is equals to weight of B, 40Newtons) This gives friction as 8N. The force on A would be 100N (weight of A) This is an atwood machine problem. First think...

Schools Looking for universities in germany

Thank you for your responses. One more question though, let's say if a person is to get an engineering degree (bachelor), how difficult would it be to continue with a masters degree in physics in German universities (getting accepted and such). Because conventionally it is preferred the other...

Schools Looking for universities in germany

The reason why I am considering TUHH is because they teach their first semester or year (I do not know which) in English, completely. This gives time for international student (like me if I were to go there) time to pick up German language proficiency. The rest of the undergrad studies is in...

Schools Looking for universities in germany

Hi, I am new to physics forums and after reading various posts in this section, decided to ask this question; Any suggestions for good universities in germany for physics or engineering (in general) for undergrad studies. I have heard about tuhh, but still uncertain...
