Homework Statement
A mass(A) of 12kg is on a slope with an angle of 30 degrees.
The static coefficient of friction of the slope = 0.5 (μs)
The kinetic coefficient of friction 0.3
The length of the slope from the block= 5m
However the The mass(A) is connected to another mass(B) which is...
If its with the origin would it be a right angles triangle so could I say θ = (x2-x1)i(hat) + (y2-y1) j (hat) divided by square root of (x2-x1)^2 + (y2-y1)^2
or use pythagoras's theorem?
Homework Statement
You are given 3 charges (q1,q2,q3)
q1 has a magnitude (charge) of 7, q2 has a magnitude (charge) of -5, q3 has a magnitude (charge) of 3.
q1 has 2d co ordinates (3, 4), q2 has a 2d co ordinates (5, 9), q3 has a 2d co ordinates (7, 8).
For q1, q2 and q3 calculate the total...
See I must sub in a magnitude and 2d coordinates and get out the force acting on each...Like I literally have no idea because I missed all this last year I missed whole term because I was sick and they didn't allow any books or things to like concentrate on and my teacher reckons I could have...
The question I posted is the full question like I just took out the values which were in brackets. Is it unsolvable?
So with regards to the unit vector do I just but the distance it is over one and get r hat? I don't use cos θ or sinθ?
okay thank you I will look at the link
Okay so if I have a point (2,3) and a point (5,6) say ( I just made them up), do I calculate the distance between the points and divide it by its magnitude which is one?
Homework Statement
How do you calculate compute the the magnitude of the total force of three charges and also the angle it makes with the x-axis? Knowing the magnitude and also the 2d co ordinates of the charges. (x1,y1) (x2,y2) (x3,y3)
I know for definite I use the below calculation but...
Homework Statement
What is r hat (^) like exactly and how do you calculate it?
I know that it is something to do with unit vectors and that it should be gotten in some form of cosi + sinj
like I had to input geometry co ordinates x1,y1 and stuff
Any help at all will be appreciated
One I find the force F12, F13 and F23 do I add them all up?
I don't know how to work out the magnitude of a unit vector which seems to be called R hat? Like its something to do with cosi + sinj
Do Vector components come into this at any point and if so how are they calculated?
How do you calculate compute the the magnitude of the total force of three charges and also the angle it makes with the x-axis? Knowing the magnitude and also the 2d co ordinates of the charges.
I have deliberately not given any specific values because this is not homework its a question from...
okay so in the exam paper it says that "r hat is the unit vector along the line of action between the charges. the question is regarding coloumbs law"
so I'm given the magnitude of the vectors and the corordinates of three charges and I need r hat to solve it
