How to Calculate Drag Load of Sticker on Fast Moving Vehicle

Hi Great Engineers, Need you help. I am required to calculate drag load on sticker to ensure it is not peeling off in operation. The vehicle may moves as fast as 220 km/hr with rectangular sticker size of 30 cm x 40 cm, thickness 0.0635 mm on its body. Wind direction is parallel to 40 cm length...

How to calculate tension force for scattered bolt on plane

The answer is 10 when using the formula given. However this excel spreadsheet shows otherwise, the value is 10 only if I put the bolt symmetrical (the 1st column bolt). If I deviate the bolt as figure above (which is not symmetrical in the first row). The value become 9.10. Here I attached link...

How to calculate tension force for scattered bolt on plane

However, from excel result that I have downloaded from engineering edge showed that the value of tension is varying when I change the bolt in z-direction (force(P) applied above plane(distance=y) with direction along x-axis, hence creating Mz=Py). If I'm applying the basic formula same as shown...

How to calculate tension force for scattered bolt on plane

Please find the attached (http://s23.postimg.org/ropds44ob/Capture.jpg). I know how to get the shear force for each bolt using bolt analysis. But I don't know how to get the tension/compression force of the bolt when it position is not symmetric. *I already download some excel from internet...

Why support for diving board case is assume as pin/roll?

yes to find reaction force, we would assume the beam is rigid at first. However my work colleague ask me why we would use pin support and not fixed support at the end of beam? Because from the pics, the bolt prevent the beam from rotate(unlike pin which easy to rotate) which would match with the...

Why support for diving board case is assume as pin/roll?

Nevermind, ignore the picture that didn't come through properly. Only 1 pics.

Why support for diving board case is assume as pin/roll?

I would say it is just bolted by two fastener to base, and assuming the body is rigid when try to find the reaction force.

Why support for diving board case is assume as pin/roll?

http://[url=http://postimg.org/image/fqof29xxj/][PLAIN]http://s15.postimg.org/fqof29xxj/Capture.jpg I'm pretty sure the end of beam(bolted) will be considered as pin(from many example I have seen). however 2 bolts is bolted vertically (not sideway like huge pin), that mean it the beam to go up...

Why support for diving board case is assume as pin/roll?

Sorry for silly question, but have been wondering. Diving board it is bolted to the ground(base platform) (vertically), why not assume it as fix. the way bolt is secured is same direction as the load, hence it is not easy/resist to rotate up and down like pin or hinge. so there is moment. Isn't?

How do I represent load distribution of over hanging object

I'm intending to draw shear and moment diagram for the beam, but first I need to get the FBD correct first to be used in Shear and moment diagram. assuming I have drawn reaction force from the floor and reaction force of bolt holding the plate at the floor (Left side). On the end of beam...

Method to decide if calculating buckling failure is compulsory or not?

Is there any method to define weather I have to calculate for determine buckling of column lead to fail or not. Is there is any rule of thumb or formula that show it is required to check for buckling or not (like very short column)

How do I represent load distribution of over hanging object

I am trying to make a FBD for equipment which is half out of the beam, I realize I can represent it with a single line of force. But how if I want to go for distribute load? which one is the correct one. (purposely not drawing reaction force on floor.)...

Which choice should be used for a hollow rectangular bar in MIL-HDBK-5J?

I have a hollow 2024-T3 rectangular bar and need to check its mechanical and physical properties. So i went through the MIL-HDBK-5J, and it have 3 choice for this material; 1. Sheet 2.Drawn tubing 3.Extruded Bar,rod, and shapes. so for hollow rectangular bar, which one should i choose. 2 or 3...

are you saying at point A or B have a moment? seems to led to a fix-fix support.
