Extinction event in my story, is it believable?

Yeah, I've already come to that conclusion that an extinction event caused solely by water or a water phenomenon is not possible. I've moved on to consider other ideas, and I'm considering earthquakes as the basis for my event now, as on a large scale, earthquakes are dangerous but also lead to...

If the moon's Perigee was closer, could that result in earthquakes?

I did read your answers in the last thread and thank you for that. I was not ignoring those answers, but I wanted to restate my questions as the focus in this thread so that if I received any additional feedback or answers, it would actually be on this topic since everyone else in that thread...

Extinction event in my story, is it believable?

Yeah, I don't understand why this thread has become a debate over the difference between a Tsunami and Tidal Waves. There is really no reason to be talking about the difference between the terms as it seems most of the replies completely ignored my actual questions from my last post and instead...

If the moon's Perigee was closer, could that result in earthquakes?

If for any reason, the moon were forced into a more extreme elliptical orbit to earth where its perigee was much closer to earth and its apogee was much farther, what kind of affects would we expect to see? Also, would the moon's perigee cause more frequent or more severe earthquakes?

Extinction event in my story, is it believable?

I do understand the difference between a Tsunami and normal Tidal Waves, though I was more so asking if it was believable that the moon being much closer could result in tidal waves large enough to become tsunamis, particularly as the tides recede, though I had figured it wouldn't. On another...

Extinction event in my story, is it believable?

I am writing a saga of multiple stories set at different time periods in a fictional version of our real world. At a certain point in the worlds timeline, in the next thousand or so years of the current real world time, an extinction level event wipes out all civilization and most life on earth...
