Location final image diveraging and converging lens

Ok I just realized again haha...my first M is postive and 2nd negative M1=-2/7 M2=-3.216 -0.918=hi/1.5 hi=-1.4 so inverted ok I get the answer! but I don't understand why it is the product why not add together?

Location final image diveraging and converging lens

Oh I just realized when I find the magnification due to the first lens, and then the second lens, the product of the two gave me the final magnification and I used this with the orginal height to find it to be 1.4 ... why does the product give me the final magnification? and inverted?

Location final image diveraging and converging lens

Oh ok I think I get it, so since it is the distance from the object to the image I want to add 0.71683 + 0.08+0.5 = 1.3 and the image is to the right thanks! ok now for part b... I know M= -q/p so would I do -0.7168/.22285 = -3.216 and we know the orginal height M=hi/h -3.216=hi/1.5 but the...

Location final image diveraging and converging lens

Homework Statement A 1.5 cm tall object is placed 0.50 m to the left of a diverging lens with a focal length of 0.20 m. A converging lens with a focal length of 0.17 m is located 0.08 m to the right of the diverging lens. a)What is the location of the final image with respect to the object...

Minimum thickness of thin film constructive interference

oh ok so (615*10^-9)/(2*1.501) = 2.04*10^-7 Got it! thanks! so the key was that it is constructive interference, which they stated in the problem... is there a way to tell if they don't state it? like if they say they would the find the maximum or minimum, does that refer to constructive and...

Seperation between central bright frindge and third dark frindge

and L is the distance from the screen to the slits right? what did I mix up then?

    Distance between m=0/m=1 bright fringes

Homework Statement Two slits separated by 2.00x10^-5 are illuminated by light of wavelength 500nm. If the scree is 8.0m from the slits what is the distance between m = 0 and m=1 bright fringes? answer is 10 cm Homework Equations d=m*lambda*L/y (for the short cute..for small angles)...

Minimum thickness of thin film constructive interference

well they are referring to the benzene so would it be the 1.501 for n. would the equation be t= (lambda)/4*n hm...but I am still not getting the answer?

Minimum thickness of thin film constructive interference

Homework Statement What is the minimum (non-zero) thickness of a benzene (n = 1.501) thin film that will result in constructive interference when viewed at normal incidence and illuminated with orange light (lamba = 615 nm)? A glass slide (ng = 1.620) supports the thin film answer= 204 nm...

Seperation between central bright frindge and third dark frindge

Homework Statement Two slits are separated by 2.00x10^-5 m. They are illuminated by a wavelength 5.60x10^-7m. If the distance from the slits to the screen is 6.00 m, what is the separation between the central bright fringe and the third dark fringe? Answer: 0.421 m Homework Equations I...

What is the frequency of the string now?

Oh ok so I want to use f = v/wavelength which is also equal to (1/2L)(sqrt(T/mu) can't I set up a ration like F2/F1 = sqrt(T2/T1) I saw this in the book but I was not sure how they reduced this then I et T2 = (523/526)^2T1 T2 =0.989T1 but you want to do 1 - 0.989 (right?) so 0.0114 then...

    Phase Difference: Solving Homework Problems

Homework Statement Two sinusoidal waves in a string are defined by functions y1= (2.00cm)sin(20x-32t) y2=(2.00cm)sin(25x-40t) where y and x are cm and t is sec (a) What is the phase difference between these two waves at the point x = 5 cm and t = 2 s? (b) What is the position x value...
